Closer Up

My husband made a fancier one with a handle and just cut out the middle, but all the other ones I’ve seen are just rectangles nailed together.  He spaced them one-half an inch apart on the rows, and one inch across.  You can make any size you want.

As for the process of actually doing this handwork.  You start by tying a loop and hooking it on the first nail.  Then you take the yarn around the nail the way you want to go.  For instance if we start on the right side then you would go around the nail on the left  of the nail (Clockwise) first. Does that make any sense?  Or is this too confusing?  If you’re like me it’s sooo much easier if someone shows me how rather than trying to follow directions especially from poor directions. :)  So then you have two loops on each nail.  Next you would pull the bottom loop up over the top one and then after you do all of then that way, you get to push the top loops (the ones that are left) down and start over.  Well, that at least gives you an idea . . .
