On Cleaning and Such

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

This evening is cell groups (small group prayer meeting) and our group is meeting here at our house. I’ve given up trying to clean-up the house much ahead of time. It’s best to wait till an hour or two before people arrive to ensure a mess-less house. Note I said “mess-less” not clean. My house very, very seldom seems clean anymore . . . When it does get a good scrub invariably a few minutes later or maybe hour it’s not spotless anymore . . . Now why would that be, tell me!

I know in a few years I will hardly have to clean it. My children can help me get it done in no time and entertain the babies ( if I have any more . . . they’re slow in coming now days :) , but I am getting a bit anxious. I certainly hope Jaden isn’t my last! . . . though the break is nice.) so that it will stay that way . . . so I guess this season of life will pass. Tell me it will.

Mittens

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

I got tired of crocheting caps . . .  As of Friday I have started learning how to knit mittens.  This is great fun! . . . a sense of satisfaction fills my soul.  I’ve tried knitting before (maybe two scarves in my lifetime), but never really enjoyed it.

My mom knitts away at anything mittens, slippers, sweaters, afghans, and now she’s started into socks.  A couple of years ago when I tried it again (the first time was in my childhood) I was doing it for her sake kinda.   . . . But now I am REALLY  glad I tried for the third time!  It’s great! (Don’t ask me though how my first mitten turned out . . .  these things take practice ;)

What does an invested mom look like to you?  What does she say and do?  How much energy does she have to have on hand?
I like what Brietta has to say about this . . . Read the last part of Feb. 11’s post.

It’s Nice to Know!

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

I’ve really been enjoying reading Amy’s posts on “Life with three under three” as she looks back a few years and tells us how she did it.

It’s just nice to know that not alone in throwing the baby and toddler clothes in the drawer without folding them and stacking them neatly. (They never stay that way anyway, at least at our house) . . . but I do feel guilty like I’m not being a good mom when someone else takes care of the children and dresses them.

It’s nice to know . . . that I’m not alone . . . in many things about mothering.

Spring is Coming!

Monday, February 19th, 2007

It’s almost spring, right?   My first sign was a few days ago . . .  it just was starting to have a more humid, damp smell.  So I took a short walk (before the children squawked for me)

Today was the second sign of spring . . . it was warm enough to hang out the boys comfort on the clothes line!  . . .  well, I did have to bring it in just now cause the wind whipped it off, ( It was kinda heavy.) and hang it up down in the basement.  Ok . . . it was about one-third frozen.  But one of these days . . .

Anyway, it’s fragrance will be the freshest of fresh scents!

I love hanging clothes and blankets out on the line!  It’s one of the best jobs of housekeeping!

Realistic or Faithful?

Saturday, February 17th, 2007

Is realistic always being faithful?

Today an incident happened where I thought I was being realistic in what I could do\handle . . . . God told me “No, that is not the way to go. PRAISE ME AND HAVE FAITH.”

I am also challenged with this phrase of a song.  “Climb mountains while you may . . . .”  I do want to make the most of each moment God gives me here to glorify and honor Him!

“I can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens me!”

Monday Mess

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Isn’t it great to have Monday to try to catch up, rest up and start the new week? Hmmmm . . . wouldn’t that be nice if I could get ALL that done in a Monday . . .

This morning when I was tired this was not funny, It was disastrous! . . . now I can look at the mess and say hey this isn’t too bad we can get this taken care of . . . What a difference one’s energy level makes one feel!

Isn’t praising God, when one doesn’t feel like it “bringing the sacrifice of praise?” Are these praises more special to God than when everything is going well and we feel like praising him?

“By Him therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually , that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.” Hebrews13:15

” . . . bringing sacrifices of praise unto the house of the Lord.” Jeremiah 17:26c

Scripture Windows

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

If you have no other good place to write Scripture, you can use a dry erase black marker on your windows.  I did this for the first a few weeks ago and have both my kitchen windows marked up.  It doensn’t show up too well at times but . . . it is fun to do!  And you can wipe it off whenever you want or change it.  Usually I get these phases of “I got to declutter” and off they will probably go, but for now I’m enjoying them.

Blessed by Father-in-law!

Friday, February 9th, 2007

These I am indebted to my father-in-law for . . . He creatively came up with having his sons turn out these wooden letters in the shop and they nailed them to the beams in their house. Now we are living here and are enjoying this rich heritage that he left behind!

These first two pictures are of the same verse and are above the bathroom door and as one enters the kitchen.

This is in our living room and says (Can you see it?) “Let the peace of God rule in your heart”

The “wise son” one you see as you come down the stairs to the main floor.

And this decorates our bathroom door upstairs. As you can see we are missing a letter . . . thanks to my children! I do have it here somewhere but can’t remember where I put it . . . I didn’t realize what it belonged too till a day or two later.

“O, Lord, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup. You maintain my lot. The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places; Yes, I have a good inheritance.”

Psalm 61:5 “Thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear Thy name.”
