Homemade Rugs
I love projects\crafts . . . working with my hands . . . and so . . .
This is one of my favorite parts of the day . . . reading time . . . I “weave” a homemade rug out of scraps and listen to a Bible story
I call it my Shaggy Rug cause I’m using mostly drapery fabric that come unraveled easily . . . I kinda like the look that way . . . They are not crocheted or braided but are called Toothbrush Rugs . . . a few years ago I picked up a little booklet showing how to make them at a quilt show. Japheth made me a really dandy little wooden tool, that works better for me than my original toothbrush thingy because my strips weren’t fitting very well with the other one.
If you want to see more go to www.auntphillys.com I like the oval ones the best . . . for at the bottom of our basement stairs, in front of my kitchen sink etc.

Is there a way you can teach me how to do this? I cannot afford the book. I have alot of gray fabric that the sisters I sew for did not want dresses made from after all because it was too wrinkly. I thought it would be wonderful to crochet rugs from!
Thanks!

That is such a great idea…to make rugs while your children do their reading!

Just found your blog! I bought a sewing machine from Japheth and just love it! He and Judi have been so very kind to me.
Love these rugs! Can you explain how to make them? I have so much left-over fabric from sewing projects, these would be great to make.

Hi, Sharon, I just mailed my booklet of instructions to a friend . . . maybe some evening I can take the time to do pics and write out the steps . . . or this coming Thursday (the 9th) Japheth’s having another digitizer class at the store at 1:00, if you come early Judi can show ya . . .If you’re like me that’s easier than going by written instructions anyway

Hi Aimee, Thank you SO much! I’m glad to hear Jay is having another class. I missed one in the series he had earlier. He is such a good teacher, but he covered so very much I need a refresher!
I will be looking forward to Judi showing me how to make the rugs. Again, thank you!
