I Am With You

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

After Jesus was tempted and testing in the wilderness God sent angels to minister to him . . . and I’m sure He was there to, The All Present God . . . The Creator, the One who callus us by our name and says “You are Mine” . . .

And though I have not literally had to pass through waters or rivers or fire, I am being tested and tried . . . And if you have children, I think you can understand the level of wisdom and sobriety that one needs to teach and train and go on after receiving instruction and correction on one’s methods or lack of them . . .

Please pray for me as I cling to the Lord and cry out to Him and claim His promises  . . . For HE is MY GOD and I am His!

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob

And He who formed you, O Israel

Fear not, for I have redeemed you

I have called you by your name

You are mine

When you pass through the waters,  I WILL BE WITH YOU

And through the rivers, THEY SHALL NOT OVERFLOW YOU

When you walk through the fire, YOU SHALL NOT BE BURNED

NOR SHALL THE FLAME SCORCH YOU

For I am the Lord you God

The Holy one of Israel, your Savior . . .” – Isaiah 43: 1-3a

Just Ramblings

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Ah, the blessings of being tired . . . a growing baby and alot of work caught up (if there is such a thing as that around here) . . . Now I think, we shall rest a bit . . . and I won’t let myself think about that this is just the beginning of the tired stage . . . Life is good, one day at a time . . . ya know tomorrow never comes . . . All we have  is today . . .

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble

May the name of the Lord defend you

May He send you help from the sanctuary

And strengthen you out of Zion.

May He remember . . . and accept . ..

May He grant you according to your hearts desire

And fulfill all your purpose

We will rejoice in your salvation

And in the name of our God we will set up our banners

May the Lord fulfill all your petitions

Now I know that the Lord saves His annointed

He will answer Him from His holy heaven

With the saving strength from HIs Holy heaven

With the saving strength of His right hand

Some trust in chariots and some in horses

BUT WE WILL REMEMBER THE NAME OF OUR GOD

They have bowed down and fallen

But we have risen and have stood upright

Save Lord!

May the King answer us when we call.” – Psalm 20

Japheth and Jeremiah have been spending lots of spare time building with K-nex . . .  Here’s Jeremiahs helicopter.

lynne-pounding-away

Lynne’s delighted that I’m actually letting her play way on the piano!

little-table

These three just love their little tea table.

laundry-girl

. . . hanging up laundry (this didn’t last long we got tired of walking around it, but someday I long for some lower clothesline in our basement . . . even I have to  stand on my tip- toes to reach the highest parts)

cutcolor-paste

Cut, color and paste . . . that’s always fun . . .

beads

or doing beads . . . and begging Mama to iron “right now” and decorate the fridge . . .

starting

And Japheth’s always in the fray . . . tug, tickle and tussle . . .

tickle-tussle-tug1

. . . Until someone calls for quiet time (hmm, I wonder who would do such a thing as that!?!)

time

And then the most coveted spot – Papa’s lap . . .

getting-loved

I get lots of love around here . . .

knitting

And a bit of time to learn something new . . . Knitting . . .

But some of the best fun of all is doing things together . . .r2

Like this game . . . put your bunny in the middle . . . Someone rolls the dice and hold the pan and if the dice add up to seven (or for younger ones we just did one dice and picked the nmber three), then . . .

rabbits-in-the-burrow

Wham!!!  Ya better watch out and not let your bunny get caught!  Yank that string for all your worth . . .

Moving With Currents of Grace . . .

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Ok, somehow I can’t get my linker to work so sorry if you want to read this neat article you will have to cut and paste I guess . . . Here it is:

http://dorcassmucker.blogspot.com/2009/01/letter-from-harrisburg.html

“This is what I hope to remember in the new year: It isn’t about perfection and getting it all together, but rather about moving with the currents of grace that flow all around me. My loss may wash up on another shore as a blessing, my greatest failure rearrange another’s landscape with a wave of joy.”   – Dorcas Smucker

Guess what?

We are happily excited . . .

And wait with awe and wonder . . .

For in September . . .

Lord willing,

We will be holding

A precious,

New little bundle of joy

Some hope for girl,

Others want boy . . .

It seems like a long time,

Since the last one arrived . . .

Joy mounts up with butterfly wings

and flutters round our hearts

As our hearts beats faster

and sing, sing, sings . . .

Another little one is on the way!!!

Tears . . .

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

You know that song, “Tears Are a Language God Understands”? . . . Well, He made them, and I’m sure glad He understands them cause I’m having a hard time even knowing what they mean myself and I’m the one weeping buckets :)   No, it’s something else today . . . Arggg! Well, maybe a touch of that in a bit different form . . . you know strands of spagetti all tangled up in one big mess, you pull one and it affects LOTS of others . . .

Relationships – Open Arms

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

. . .  I don’t want to harden my heart against the pain, but I wish it wouldn’t hurt so much . . . sometimes like tonight I feel like quitting at this  paticular relationship, but I know that’s not what I really want to do . . .  So I keep praying, and loving in my own awkward way, and hoping . . .  and hoping . . . and hoping some more . . .

God you have made us desiring relationships . . . we need them for the encourgement and joy along the way . . . but how does this work when it’s onesided . . . this open hand I’ve been trying to hold out is wanting to close up a bit . . .

There’s a song that goes something like this:  “Open arms leaves the heart unprotected . . .  Leaves it open for the better or the worse . . .Let  the Healer touch your heart were it hurts”

Yes, The Healer . . . “Where could I go, oh, where could I go needing a refuge for my soul . . . Where could I go but to the Lord . . .”  So true . . . there’s no better place than going to the Lord!!!

Mom Thoughts from Matthew 14

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

“When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities. ”

Jesus, like us moms like to go to a desert place apart . . . but  nine times out of ten our mulitudes” of little people soon follow us there . . .

“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.”

O God, give me more compassion to them when I’m so busy . . . help me not push them away or aside as I scurry around preparing supper . . . Help me take time to kiss their owies and give balm to their hearts . . .

“And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.”

May I embrace serving them each day . . .

But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.

. . . And when you give me a chance to serve a meal or a snack( for someone I didn’t plan on), may I joy in that chance . . .

And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.

And Lord, they (impromptu company )are welcome here, but this is what I have . . . May you bless it as you did those loaves and fishes long ago  I pray . . .

He said, Bring them hither to me.

Yes, Lord. . . I come to You . . .

And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.

And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.  (Mat 14:13-21)

Your blessings, Lord are without number . . . You give and bless and redeem . . . I am so unworthy . . .

Gifts of God

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

These children who once were just a hope of the future are now a dream come true . . . God has been so good to me in giving what I had once thought might be impossible . . .

I just thank Him for the gift of watching them grow up, the gift of hugging and kissing them and calling them my own, for giving us food and clothes to meet their needs, to be able to show them the love of God, to teach them of His Word, to hear laughter and song fill the house (as well as yells and fight – I’m realistic here),  for bright eyes and  soft warm skin . . . . and just the gift of them . . .
