I’ve been trying to teach the boys how to memorize Scripture verses by themselves . . . Finally this morning we had some good successes!!! . . . . Why is it that there is such a difficult road leading to success? . . . I’ve been trying to get them to do this for about a year, I guess (off and on,  ya know :) )

And this afternoon right after lunch we had a major, major failure in remembering lessons on how to treat animals kindly . . . I mean we are not talking one or two or even three year olds, but almost seven and eight year olds!!!

Does God ever feel like it’s useless? . . . What He’s trying to teach me? . . . Does He ever wonder and think “Oh, she’ll never get it!!  Look at this . . . again . . . over and over, she’s failed at this test . . . .

I admit, I wonder sometimes . . . Will my children ever learn . . . Like HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO TELL\SHOW THEM?!  Whether it’s clearing off the table chores or keeping their room clean or being kind to animals or remembering to come ask “Is there anything else I can do for you, Mama?  before they run off to play. . .

“Life is easy when you’re up on the mountain” . . . but when you’re down in the valley trying to train up six children . . .ya gotta hold on to FAITH . . .

Tomorrow I head out to spend a day with my husband.  We’re taking several ladies from the Quilt Guild to a quilt show in Duluth.  Looking forward to it!!!

Weep and Pray . . .

Monday, June 1st, 2009

There is much to wail for . . . In our country, in our church, in our families, in our own personal lives . . . This is something we women are called to do . . . weep and pray . . .

” . . . It is because they have forsaken my law, which I have set before them;

They have not obeyed me or followed my law.

Instead they have followed the stubbornness of their hearts . . . .

Call for the wailing women to come . . .

Let them come quickly and wail over us till our eyes overflow with tears and waters streams from our eyelids . . . .

Now, O women, hear the word of the Lord:

Open your ears to the words of His mouth.

Teach your daughters how to wail;

Teach one another a lament.

Death has climbed in through our windows

And has entered our fortresses;

It has cut off the children from the streets

And the young men from the public squares.”

-The Weeping Prophet – Jeremiah 9: 13-20
