Rejoicing in the Summer God Has Given . . .

Thursday, June 16th, 2011

A bit of summer school and we’re happy . . . :)

Checking out a hairy fly leg!  Whoa!

Playing “store” in the basement . . .

Joy . . . He gives me joy . . .

Hmmm . . . look at all this little “manpower” sittin’ there wasting away . . . :)

Oh, happy baby . . . that isn’t so much a baby anymore .  . .

And the daisies praise the Lord . . .

and the girls giggle with delight . . .  DAISIES!!!

But, Mom, the skeeters are biting me!

This one is hard to pick, Mom!

I think I’d like to be  a little girl again and run blithely through the meadow . . . Okay, I’m enjoying my matronly stroll with the camera . . . (If only the mosquitoes would calm down a bit!) though I did have to get down in the grass and roll under the barbwire . . .

White, yellow and green . . .

A whole handful . . . May be enough for a few hours!

They grow up about as fast as the flowers wilt . . .

Wintery Night Walk

Japheth took this of our pathway the other night.

Lovely, White Flakes!

It’s in the season . . . This beautiful, dazzling, fluffy stuff that God created for us to enjoy.  And as long as I don’t have to go out in it too much it is sweet!  I love winter.  Life just maybe slows down a bit if that is possible, at least there is no grass to cut, no weeds to pull.  School makes the winter’s full now that my children are that age, but  I still enjoy a few moments here and there knitting, sewing, playing games and making popcorn and hot chocolate for the family.

Last night seemed like a party!   . . .after a weekend of people and busyness we all donned on soft, clean, comfy pajamas and read stories and the children were wild with excitement about sleeping out in the living room, running about fixing their “nest” here and there and then changing their minds and finding another place!  Such is the life of  a youngster, simple joys! :)

Right now most of the children are in the basement roller blading – not that we have place for such activity down there just a hall and a bit of floor under my clothesline :) , enough to get in each other’s way and have accidents and fun! :)   Normally it last about ten minutes until someone is crying.  I’m thinking about limiting the people on blades at a time.

Settler’s of Catan is the rage around this household now.  Many hours of playing that game and even the mother enjoys her turn at playing!  Japheth and I are working on a quilt.  Fun doing it together.  Never dreamed my husband would enjoy such things much less take the lead in it! :)

The trees are showing off their white garments so gracefully . . . Think I’ll sneak away and take a short walk in a quiet world of snowflakes brushing my cheeks . . .

Love to all who ever come here anymore! :)

Dreams

Sometimes a friend looks down the road and longs for ya to stop by . . .

Sometimes she waits . . . and waits . . .

But she  knows that this life isn’t perfect . . .

That we get caught up in the daily duties and that too many miles separate us . . .

She knows . . . cause she’d long to go visiting . . .

But the time isn’t right . . .

But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t think about it . . .

. . . and dream

And someday . . . in that fair land where time is no more

I’m hoping to walk with ya . . .

in meadows sweet . . .

with plenty of time and joy that that we know little of down here.

I can’t wait . . .

Reading . . .

Monday, July 12th, 2010

I’m reading “Be Your Own Doctor” by Rachel Weaver . . .  It’s an informative Guide to Herbal Home Health Care that was just published recently . . .  Very good!

“If I ask to be delivered from the trial rather than for deliverance out of it, to the praise of His glory;  if I forget that the way of the Cross leads to the Cross and not to a bank of flowers;  if I regulate my life on these lines, or een unconsciously my thinking so that I am surprised when the way is rough, and think it strange, though the Word is ‘Think it not strange . . . Count it all joy . . . ‘) then I know nothing of Calvary love.”

Been reading Amy Carmichael’s “IF” . . . if you wondered. :)

Jaden turns four today!

Stayed home with FIVE sick children Sunday . . . not really my idea of a special Easter . . . but did have a special time “Alone” (as a mother can be)  with the Lord . . . God is good . . . He is faithful . . . He is powerful . . . He’s not dead, but more alive than you or I can ever be!

Finally got the stroller out of the garage.  It was a job just getting it out!!! :(

The boys had some help last week on their little log cabin in the woods.  They love working out there cuttin’ logs and such though they have been banned from having a fire out there for awhile due to not taking proper precautions against forest fires.

Japheth and Jeremiah are the younger boys on this pic.  Neighbors are wonderful people . . . at least if you have the kind we do!!!

Waiting for my Honey . . .

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

This post today comes to you because I am waiting for my  Honey to come home and am too tired to tackle the mess in the kitchen . . .

pea-shellers

Today we shelled the first of our peas . . . I think this pic is after I called them in . . . I stepped outside to find the children shelling peas in the doghouse of all places!!!

8-years

I know this is kinda late, but Japheth turned eight the first of this month . . . Strawberry pie . . .

big-white-van

And for those of you who don’t live around  here, we’ve been driving this big white thing . . . Actually I love it! . . . Lots of space!!!

Ninty-nine more days to go . . . :) and baby’s giving mighty kicks!  Midwife comes today for a check-up. Yah!

Japheth just got in a long-arm quilting machine . . . can’t wait to try it out!!! :)   It’s for demo and to rent by the hour . . . Anyone interested?

Garden update.  Strawberries are blooming.  I’m eating  fresh lettuce and radish sandwhiches.  Nice cool weather to weed in. :)

Tomorrow I head out to spend a day with my husband.  We’re taking several ladies from the Quilt Guild to a quilt show in Duluth.  Looking forward to it!!!

Just Ramblings

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Ah, the blessings of being tired . . . a growing baby and alot of work caught up (if there is such a thing as that around here) . . . Now I think, we shall rest a bit . . . and I won’t let myself think about that this is just the beginning of the tired stage . . . Life is good, one day at a time . . . ya know tomorrow never comes . . . All we have  is today . . .

“May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble

May the name of the Lord defend you

May He send you help from the sanctuary

And strengthen you out of Zion.

May He remember . . . and accept . ..

May He grant you according to your hearts desire

And fulfill all your purpose

We will rejoice in your salvation

And in the name of our God we will set up our banners

May the Lord fulfill all your petitions

Now I know that the Lord saves His annointed

He will answer Him from His holy heaven

With the saving strength from HIs Holy heaven

With the saving strength of His right hand

Some trust in chariots and some in horses

BUT WE WILL REMEMBER THE NAME OF OUR GOD

They have bowed down and fallen

But we have risen and have stood upright

Save Lord!

May the King answer us when we call.” – Psalm 20

Tears . . .

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

You know that song, “Tears Are a Language God Understands”? . . . Well, He made them, and I’m sure glad He understands them cause I’m having a hard time even knowing what they mean myself and I’m the one weeping buckets :)   No, it’s something else today . . . Arggg! Well, maybe a touch of that in a bit different form . . . you know strands of spagetti all tangled up in one big mess, you pull one and it affects LOTS of others . . .
